President-elect Donald Trump is asking the Supreme Court to call off Friday's sentencing in his hush money case in New York. Trump's lawyers turned to the nation's highest court on Wednesday after New York courts refused to postpone the sentencing by Judge Juan M.

Trump's lawyers argued that the justices should step in and pause his sentencing "to prevent grave injustice and harm to the institution of the presidency."

Trump was convicted on May 30, 2024, in a case relating to his hush money payments to an adult film actress. Trump falsified business records from his company, the Trump Organization, to make reimbursements to his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to hide the payments in the run-up to Election Day 2016.
