More than 3.2 million workers including some teachers, firefighters and police officers receiving Social Security may soon see a boost in their monthly payments

More than 3.2 million Social Security recipients who received pensions from their time as teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public service jobs will see an immediate boost in their benefits.

The recently signed Social Security Fairness Act could benefit 3.2 million public service workers, eliminating provisions that reduced their benefits and allowing for retroactive payments from 2024.
