Jared Goff’s NFL career has had an interesting arc. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick guided the Los Angeles Rams to a Super Bowl in 2018, but after a two-year slump, the 26-year-old signal-caller was traded to the Detroit Lions for 33-year-old Matthew Stafford and a haul of draft picks.
Goff’s 4,629 yards were second only to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (4,918). Burrow is also a finalist for the award, along with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Dan Campbell have been named finalists for MVP and Coach of the Year, respectively.
While some stars opted out, Burrow and Baker Mayfield will be among the players on hand for the revamped games.

Goff signed a four-year, $212 million contract extension in November 2024, three years after his trade from the Rams. The Lions cannot cut Goff at a financial gain until 2026, per Over The Cap. A post-June 1 designation then would save $35 million with $34.6 million in dead money.

Goff finished the season with 37 touchdowns and 4,629 yards, completing 72.4% of pass attempts. He's No. 2 in the NFL in passing yards and No. 4 in passing touchdowns while having the No. 6 QBR in the league (68.4).
Between that and leading the league in passing yards, Burrow made his case for the NFL MVP award. Thursday, he was officially announced as one of five finalists for the award. Joining him among the group are Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
